For seven years, KerrSmith Design has displayed a range of “slideshows”
on our home page that are representative of our interest in – and the
interaction of art, culture, urbanism, architecture, and design. From images
of retail environments, signs, abstract compositions on the poster-scarred
walls of Italy, and the architecture of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe or Viljo Revell,
to mysterious rural pathways and “one point perspectives” from cities around
the world, these photographs represent our interest in globalization, research,
context, coincidence, systems, meaning, form and beauty.
The current slideshow is a series of details of the expressive brushstrokes
of Willem de Kooning from his 1977 painting, Untitled V.
On display at the Albright-Knox museum in Buffalo, Untitled V is a work from
de Kooning to Xavier Fourcade, and later purchased by Seymour H. Knox, Jr
for the collection.
The Albright-Knox is one of the great museums of North America. Located in
an Olmsted designed park, the Albright-Knox displays art in a remarkably
intimate environment from an incredibly deep permanent collection and an
ever-surprising program of temporary exhibitions.
The Albright Knox will be expanding with a 29,000 square foot new building
to be designed by OMA. With construction slated to begin in fall 2019, the
new building will create a campus and include a glass walkway with views
over the historic park.
We’re at the corner of Queen and River Street.
